What is an ‘Orthotic’ ?

Orthotics are devices designed to support or correct the function of any part of the body.

They are most commonly used for feet, but also for the ankles, knees, back, neck, and even arms and legs.

Orthotics help align your body, relieve pain, and improve how you move overall.

Foot Orthoses – Insoles to Make Movement Easier

While orthotics are used to support all parts of the body, they’re most commonly associated with the feet.

Our practice uses highly specialised digital technology, equipment, and materials, which enable us to create incredibly comfortable and supportive custom insoles.

Designed to support, align, improve foot function, and alleviate various conditions, our orthotics cater to a diverse range of needs, from everyday walking to sports performance.

Rigid Foot Orthotics

Rigid orthotics are made using firm material, such as plastic or carbon fibre. They direct/control the motion of the foot’s joints to reduce strain on joints, muscles, and tendons. Rigid orthotics are often used in dress shoes, or in regular footwear to provide support during daily activities.

Soft Foot Orthotics

Soft orthotics provide additional cushioning for the foot but are not intended to provide structural support like semi-rigid and hard/rigid orthotics. Soft orthotics typically extend to the full length of the foot and are generally used to relieve pain in sore areas along the foot, assist with balance and absorb a level of impact during daily activities.
